We are on BI 4.1 with enterprise authentication. We are using IDM (oracle waveset 8) for access management. Currently we receive request from IDM and we manually configure user in BI4.1. We are now planning to automate this process, like as soon as user request place request through IDM , his access wil lget configure in BI 4.1
can we achieve this using SAP Business Objects Access controle or with any other method ? Need your guidance

There is a concern that some Webis that may contain sensitive information could be sent to unfavorable external email addresses. Is there a way to restrict which domains one can send them to within BOBJ server without putting this restriction within SCOT on the ABAP server.

Using the Universe Design Tool in BOE 4.4 to create an Oracle-JDBC connection.
Issue: Test Connection fails for JDBC connection to production Oracle database.
Getting error:
“DBD: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 2: No such file or directory”
Things to note:
There are three entries in the tnsnames.ora file (a prod entry, a dev entry and a test entry). I can successfully create the JDBC connections for the test and dev entries, but not prod.
I can go to Designer in another server (our BOE 3.5 server in a different environment) and create all three Oracle-JDBC connections.
The Oracle middleware is the same between the two servers (11g) and the tnsnames.ora files are identical.
The prod database is up (it would definitely be known if it were down).
Very confused on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear all,
We have converted 1 universe from UNV to UNX.After converting we are facing the context error.we have 5 context in universe but out of 5,two context is getting error.But the same is fine in UDT.
Error:
The Context"Context name" in data foundation "Universe name" contains an excluded join that generates a cartisian product error.
Please help to resolve the issue.

Our organization allows external users to access the BI platform (SAP BusinessObjects BI) by means of Juniper Systems -see technical detaiils below-

System Version: 7.2R6 (build 22399)
Despite some issues regarding authentication (SSO is not supported because Juniper SA code does not support it) remote access has worked smothly when using SAP BI 4.0 release across several SP (SP4, SP6, SP8). Recently we have moved our SAP BI system towards release 4.1 (SP 4 Patch 1) and we have began to notice some strange issues regarding external access.
In particular problem appears at following scenario
- users click on a report to view it
- reports is saved with the option "refresh on open" checked
- Report contains a promopt
In this case the prompt dialog box does not appear and the report appears empty. If the user click on "refresh" button the dialog box appears and the report works as usual.
Following message appears at Juniper log console window when report is refreshed at first time

Hello folks,
Our client is using CE9 for reporting. As upgrade is not convenient this point of time, they requested for Security matrix of current CE9 portal. There are around 700 users, 3000 crystal reports and 60 folders hence it is hetic to update this information manually.
I tried to run macro which we were using for XI 3.1 but it does not work for CE9.
Please suggest if we have some sdk or any other method to retrieve this information

we are looking into updaing the jre/jdk for bi platform 4.1 (windows 2008 server)
I found note: 1183469 on how to do this but the information seems outdated.
is it recomended to update just the JRE, both JDK/JRE or neither?
Is this something that should only be updated via upgrades to the platform?

(1) I am unable to create the Data Foundation Layer ??
(2) Can i create the Row Level Security in the BO and Pass it to the Cube, so that the user can see only the group which he belongs too??

Here am using the Audit Univese provided by SAP. Am able to get the count here but am seeing all the reports which includes reports which were deleted some time ago. Kindly help us on this. might need to use filter to avoid this i have tried using the event type but didn' work.

He wishes to know if we could setup a good test environment using MS Contoso database.
Also if there are any alternate test databases (other than the sample efashion DB shipped with BO) that can be used to create a test environment.

I created Web intelligence report using the BEx query.
The problem is when i drop the date field in webi report it gives me only one date that is (01/01/1970)
but the year and month field that are calculated on BEx query is coming in correct way.
So any one have solution to this Bug.

I tried to start work with SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio,
but there are some bugs with Studio apps & BI Platform:
Design Studio add-on was installed to BI platform (4.1 SP2),
after that I successfully connected from Studio to BI plaftorm and save some simple apps to platform.
When I try to open app in platfform - ERROR:
Unalbe to find server in CMS server_url:6400 and cluster @server_url:6400 with type pjs and service AnalysisApplicationDesignService.
I found two SAP notes (in attachment) cause to this issue:
1894504 - Design Studio - Support Note for BIP Add-On
2058382 - Adaptive Processing Server containing Analysis Application service crashes
Reccomendation in them doesn't help 
When I open Adaptive Proccesing Server properties in CMC and check services - there was no Analysis Application Design Service in Select services menu, but it must be there! (SAP note reccomend reconnect service to server)
Is I am correct that something wrong with Design Studio Add-on?
What could help?

I'm really interested in finding a way (other than checking in the document itself) to see which BEx queries are used by which Business Objects documents as Analysis for Olap and Web Intelligence.
I already know that the repository can be read with the BO tool "Query Builder" and I am also able to see which Webi documents are using a certain BEx query:
SELECT SI_NAME FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND = 'Webi' AND SI_WEBI_DOC_PROPERTIES LIKE '%DSNAME="<QUERY>"%'
But I have no idea where to find the BICS Bex query definition for "Analysis for Olap" documents in the repository (BO 4.0). Any ideas?

Am new to the BOBJ.
For my current project, we want to restrict the alias (Assign alias,New Alias,Reassign alias,Delete Alias) assignment for the particular user group.
Have tried all the “rights” which are all given the “General “ and “system”. But still user can able to do the alias assignment.
Find the attached screen shot for the reference.
Please let us know any suggestion/guidance to restrict this alias assignment.

Please help me to resolve the issue for Passing sequence from one sub report to another sub report.
Currently its working fine in Crystal reports but, when i tried to invoke from JSP it is showing separate sequence for each sub report.But i want Sequence to be continuous from one sub report to another. But i am unable to view in Browser as i am viewing in Reports tool.
