I have inherited a BO landscape which is currently a mystery when in comes to SSO and I have been confirmed from SAP that it is the first case. Please keep in mind that both SAP and MS are supporting me on the troubleshooting and I would like to find out if anyone out there has experienced the same type of issue.

Symptom:

8/10 single sign on works sporadically.

Issue can be replicated by disconnecting and reconnecting. If SSO does not work, after a few refreshes (F5), the user magically logs on.

Network has been ruled out since we are currently testing (client) in the same physical network as the server and domain controller (no firewall/proxies). We've also tried specifying 1 domain controller through "idm.kdc" and the issue is persistent in both DC1 and DC2.

From Wireshark and Fiddler trace the one thing that everyone (SAP/MS) agrees upon is the request is missing a piece:

Putting the logs side by side there are cookies and jsessions that are different but we don't know who is causing this.

This difference is visible from the first request that is being sent. Please check the highlighted differences:

Currently BOBJ BI Platform 4.1 SP3 Patch 0 is Installed in our development System and we are going for patch upgrade to BOBJ BI Platform 4.1 SP3 Patch 7.

The question is After we upgrade to BOBJ BI Platform 4.1. SP3 Patch 7 then if we dont want patch 07 then can we un-intall the Patch07 ? if we do

what would be the effect   and is it ok to do the uni-stall and what are the files need to take backup before patch upgrade and before un-install the patch 07.

Based on our sandbox system testing,  update is smooth . Only issue we had was that tomcat did not start  after update due to max and initial heap

size difference. After fixing,it worked fine.

I have a question about this note

• setspn -a HTTP/myappserver.domain.com bosso (where domain.com is the name of your AD domain the Tomcat machine ...)

It means il 's mandatory to add the Aix box to the windows AD domain  with SAMBA for exemple  or just connect physiquely the Aix box to the network  (connect network adapter to cable) and have an IP adress in this network ?

I have create jdbc connection to vertica db with name database name "Generic jdbc Datasaource " if i want to add nother databse in the same jdbc.sbo file its not recognizing ..  Below is the content i added injdbc.sbo

I have created a job in Data Services for the data which fails the requirement of the users as it was difficult to prepare it in information steward and then I have extracted that output table in Information Steward as they wanted to see this output in this tool.

Can someone please help me know if it is possible to set a trend for the count of the data

For example ,If today the output has 1000 data and tomorrow it is 5000  ,is it possible to get a trend for this.

Doing a upgrade and migration from BOBJ XI to 4.1 and have hit a roadblock with Live Office giving me some odd issues:

Old Setup:

• Live Office XI (11.5.8.826)
• Within Citrix
• Excel 2007
• Configured to use old server
• working fine

New Setup:

• Live Office 4.1 SP5 Patch 4 (14.1.5.1634)
• Excel 2010
• Configured to use new server
• Not Citrix (yet)

In the new LO, I can create new queries in a new and also allows me to bring in Web Intelligence data into a new document.

If I create a workbook in the old environment containing a Webi table, it will convert into the new LO format and refresh within the new LO setup.

If I create a workbook in the old environment containing a table based on a query, it will not open convert within the new LO setup. It gives the following error:

I am going to upgrading from 3.1 to 4.1 soon. I wanted to know the best practices from your experiences?

My questions were:

1- After i install the new 4.1 on new hardware. I use Upgrade Management Tool to move my access levels, users, groups, folders, reports, universes, connections. Correct? What services need to be running when i move my contents? Can i turn some services off to make the process fast? Also what best practices would you suggest when moving the contents? Move everything in one shot or do one category at a time?

2- What contents are movable and what are not, and need to be recreated in 4.1?

3- Can i point the 4.1 CMS db to the same as 3.1 CMS db? Or do we need a brand new CMS db for 4.1?

4- What other things i need to know when upgrading from 3.1 to 4x versions?

5- Lastly, if we want to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 do we just simply apply the 4.1 SPx on the environment? Or do a full install of 4.1 on top of 4.0?

We have Business objects XI 3.1 SP1 FP 7 installed. When we are restarting SIA as a regular process, adaptive processing service on one of the two nodes stucks in initializing everyday. If that service is terminated manually and started again it comes back immediately, however when we try to restart hung service after a while it requires 3-5 attempts. SIA restart at any other time of the day is less troublesome, however as users come online at other time of the day, we cannot change restart time.

What can be done in this case ? Why adaptive processing services goes into initializing? Sometimes the services gets PID and some times not. However it hangs in either of the cases,

I recently converted an application that has been running for years from VS 2008 MVC1 with CR 10.5 to VS 2010 CR version 13. This was to fix an issue with the toolbar not showing on reports after the latest upgrades to FireFox and IE. Well - my icons are back - but none of them work. For instance when I generate a report I can see the first page has data and I can see that is 1 of 5 pages for example but when I click the next page icon the popup appears stating "Please wait while the document is being processed". This never goes away. The Print icon does not seem to do anything. Export brings up a dialog but does nothing as well when Export is clicked. Please advise. Here is the relevant parts of  my code. As I stated this is an MVC app but I am calling an aspx page to handle the CR generation and display. All of this is on my local development machine. I do not seem to be getting any errors either on the client or on the server.

but i dont know how to create this from olap. can u please guide me to do this using java sdk.

I have created sample report in crystal report 2011& export into BI Launchpad.

I have open the sample crystal report in BI Launchpad. When i am trying to refresh the report, it showing pop window .

I  have given database credentials with userid and password. Even though report is not refreshing.

Its asking again & again pop window,enter the userid & password as below screen shot. Please help me.

How can i find out which tools a developer is using to connect to BOBIP 4.0.   I have list of 100 users, and need to find out if they are actually using Crystal/Dashboard to connect to Enterprise, Is there a way to do this with Audit/CMS db?

I have been asked to find or create a best practice for preventing scheduled instances of reports from running.

We have approximately 450 reports currently scheduled in Crystal Server 2011.

We have had a couple of incidents recently, which prevented data being loaded to our primary reporting database, resulting in "bad" reports being run.

The good news is that the majority of our reports are scheduled to run between 6:00 and 8:15 am on business days.

Other than logging into the machine running Crystal Server and stopping the SIA, does anyone have any suggestions for a better way?

Yesterday this would have been trying to "pause" 244 report instances.

Is there a single "server" adaptave job server", or the "Core Services" server group that we can disable from the CMC that would prevent the reports from running?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Between midnight and 5 am our main reporting database is receiving the ETL data.  Is there a way to prevent people from being able to schedule a Crystal or WebI report within this timeframe?
