This report has been fine for one year. You are prompted for your server credentials and then the dates needed from to. Do you perhaps have idea what is causing this error? I have been able to run this in the CR design/preview editor without any error.

Linus OS patching on BusinessObjects cluster
Hi all
We have a BusinessObjects 4.1 service pack 2 cluster consisting of 2 nodes running on top of Redhat Linux 6.5. We need to start patching the Linux operating system on the 2 nodes. I read the administrator guide that we need to do backups before applying the OS patches. What is the best practice in applying the cluster?
Is it ok to patch the OS on one node first, reboot the first node and then do the other node? Or the OS patches have to be applied to both nodes at the same time and then reboot? Any specific start up and/or shutdown sequence/procedures?
I found a doc SBOP BI 4.x cluster patching Guide, but this document seems to pertain to BusinessObjects patches instead of OS. And I cannot find any doc that describes specifically on OS patches.

How to deploy BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.x on a JBoss Application server in Windows ?

we are trying to deploy the SAP BO 4.x on top of Jboss application server in Windows Env instead of default tomcat application server,

BO 4.x Installation Error in Windows 2008
hi experts,
we are trying to install the BO 4.1, it is showing as Prerequisite of BI Platform server 4 installation failed in the initial page of the installation, so we downloaded the BO 4.0 SP10 and tryed to install but still receiving the same error(BI Platform server 4 installation failed) in our windows 2008.
I am not able to find the BO 4.0 server version without any SP version,
initial version in the Service market place showing as BO 4.0 SP00 Patch10 , I need to try this initial version, this will install and work without any issue? kindly guide me how to proceed here,

List of disabled user in 3.1
Hi,
I am trying to get list of Disabled users in BOBJ XI 3.1.
I ran the following query in query builder
Select SI_NAME,SI_DESCRIPTION,SI_ALIASES from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS where SI_KIND='User'
This will return me with all the details of alias as
SI_ALIASES 1 SI_NAME secEnterprise:Guest
SI_DISABLED true
SI_ID secEnterprise:#11
SI_TOTAL 1
But am not so sure how to query into si_aliases >> si_total >> si_disabled = true.
Please advice.

OLAP connection or Universe?
Hi People
I would like to understand what is the best strategy to implement a new BI enviroment.
We just have to acquire the BI plataform and we have doubts if you have to develop the reports using universe or BW queries.
We don't have HANA yet, only the ERP with relational database, we have configured two connections to ECC in BI platform: OLAP and Relational connection.
1) What is the advantages and disadvantages of each type of connection (OLAP and Relational)?
2) Is the universe the best approach? Do we have to stop creating BW queries and start to work only with universes?
3) I also have doubts how to apply a security police in OLAP connection since the user name and password is configured in the connection. Does the BI platform check the BW authorization from the user that is accessing the report? We have a cost center report to develop, but the users can only access the information for the cost center he is authorized to. Is it possible to restrict this access in a OLAP connection?
4) Why some BI tools can only access OLAP connections and do not access universe, for example, analysis for office and analysis for OLAP?

Cannot logoff from BI Launchpad BO 4.1
BO 4.1 on RHEL. Cluster environment. Web tier - Tomcat + Apache.
Cannot logoff from BI Launchpad.
Suddenly last week clicking on logoff brings be the logon right away.
SSO with SAML assertion and header variables are read by BO. There was no problem for 6 months and last week suddenly logoff stopped working.
We have a URL.EXIT on BIlauncpad.properties and it points to an external xyz.company logoff page. Apparently the logoff button on BI is redirecting the user back into BI launchpad and never letting logout.Any ideas?

Configure email alerts for all monitoring watches
Hi all
We have a BO v4.1 running on Redhat Linux 6.5, the monitoring watchlist that came installed by default does not have alerts emailing enabled; the default setting is to send alerts only to administrator's inbox.
There are around 50 watches came installed (some watches are per node), I tried to read the administrator guide on how to set up the watches to send email to specific email accounts but I can't find mush information there. For each watch, there is a GUI (via CMC) to setup destination for sending email alert to the users in the administrators group, but it is a lot of work to have to go thru all the watches to click on boxes. Just wondering if there is a GUI (or command line or script) that can set up alert email for all watches?

Edit Query Specification in Design Studio gets hung
Dear all,
I have a question on SAP BO Design Stdio 1.5 client version.I am just trying to add a data source as universe(.unx)
and when I am trying to edit the query specification it gets hung.
Now its taking almost 9-10 mts to connect finally.Once when we restarted our server,it got reduced to 1.5mts which is still not acceptable.
Next day it again stopped responding. Can anybody suggest me some solution on this?
Adaptive Processing services nd DSL Bridge services all are present and are working fine.
The latest update from SAP is to provide request ports to all the APS in our environment which are free and bi directioanlly open which we are just trying.The backend to which we are connecting is SAP HANA.OLAP connections are working fine also.
It has been 1 nd half months that I raised an incident in SAP whcich actually didnt come out with any great results.
Can anyone help me regarding this issue?It would be of great help.

CMC MONITORING : How to activate 'Failed' Servers' ?
Hi Experts,
please let me know how we can re-activate the servers with status failed from Monitoring in CMC..?
EIMadaptive server is in stopping state even after i restarted it, it is not running, may be this is the reason i believe every report (webi) in Launch pad is not executing. The status for EIM server once i checked in monitoring is 'Failed'.

Please suggest recommendations for extracting data from EHS to BO without having performance Issues
Hi All,
Here is the requirement : There are some filters in Report and User can enter one value for filter /If user doesn't enter any value ,BO should fetch all the data from SAP EHS.
Could you please provide suggestions for fetching the data as per above requirement from BO, without any performance Issues?
For example , using ABAP FM- IF Input parameter of FM(of SAP EHS) is made optional and is used in BO Report -If User doesn't enter any value,this might have performance Issue.
Please suggest .

3.1 DESKI report converted to 4.1 WEBI
In 3.1 DESKI, there is an option "Show negative values". When it is unchecked the negative values are considered as positive values. Is there any similar option in 4.1 WEBI?

Why a report would stay in "pending" status only until its execution fails?
Hello to All,
I'm back here because I'm with a frustrating understanding of reports status.
I've been trhough BO Administrator documentation since release XI till 4.1 and haven't found the answer.
The problem is, in some ocasions, when we "run now" a report, it stays with "pending" status and will never be executed.
In the end it finishes withe "failure", with a non suggestive message: "The object could not be scheduled in the specified time".
What in fact does "pending" status mean?
What are the job servers waiting for to execute the report even when there are no jobs running?
I tried to set the log of job servers to trace, but no relevant message was logged. And I totally agree with the documentation of BO4.1 SP6 that says "The programmatic information logged to these files is typically useful only to SAP BusinessObjects support staff for advanced debugging purposes.". The logs are almost non-human readable.
In the documentation I found "pending" only related to "Remote scheduling":
1. Tom schedules Report A for Remote Scheduling.
2. Report Instance A is created on the Destination site and is in the “pending” state.
3. Replication Job A runs. First it replicates changes from the Origin to Destination site (including previously completed instances). Second, it copies the instance in the pending state to the Origin site, as well as changes to be replicated from the Destination site to the Origin site.
4. At the Origin site, the scheduler picks up the instance in the pending state and sends it to the appropriate job server for processing. The instance is then processed and placed in the completed state on the Origin site.
5. Replication Job A runs again. When it replicates content from the Origin site to the Destination site, the completed instance Report A is picked up and the changes are applied to the Destination's version.
6. Once completed, the Destination's version is completed.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

"Update Authentication Group Membership" several failed instances
We are seeing a lot of "Update Authentication Group Membership" instances in failed status.. (using Instance Manager). We have our AD update to be done only once a day.. What could be the reason for so many failed instances?
The location on the instance says "Administrative Tools/Update Authentication Group Membership", but we do not see the folder in CMC to access the schedule and delete it.
I think this is also causing performance issues on the entire application.
We are planning to stop the scheduled daily update and re-do the schedule, but would like some insight on why this is happening.. (SAP Note - 1965981 - Logon to BI Launchpad is intermittently slow)
Also, if there is a script that can be executed to delete these failed instances, it will be of great help.
The query builder query to get the information about the Administrative Tool folder times out. FYI.. The Administrative Tool folder is in the CI_APPOBJECTS table.

How to Identify Process area for deleted reports?
