SAP BI 4.1 SP6 install error CMS

$

Hi Team,

I am trying to install SAP BO 4.1 SP6 Server on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter with a SQLAnywhere DB. However, once the installation is finished, there was an error message at the end saying 'Installation encountered errors during installation process'. I can’t connect to the CMC or launch pad, and if I try to look for the log of installation, I have the following message (in french):

Tue Dec 22 13:30:11 CET 2015 Add Samples started

Tue Dec 22 13:30:11 CET 2015  Getting parent folder name done

Tue Dec 22 13:30:11 CET 2015  Logging onto CMS beginning

err: Tue Dec 22 13:30:15 CET 2015 Error: Logon( Administrator, servername:6400, secEnterprise) failed

Error description: Impossible d'accéder au CMS SRV-BO2:6400. Spécifiez le port et l'hôte appropriés, puis vérifiez les problèmes de réseau. (FWM 20030)

Tue Dec 22 13:30:15 CET 2015 Aborting

It seems, it is a problem related to the port 6400 (port by default in the BO installation process with SQLAnywhere). If I run the command netstat –a in the server, I can’t see the port 6400 on the list. Anti-virus and Fire-wall are off

I am not quite experimented with this isntallation, i know i can change the port at the moment of the install but i don't have information about the impact or how to do it in a proper way.

Any advice?

King Regards and thanks in advance,

Dear Developer,

I am happy to use version 2 of the Support Tool.

In our small dev environment the following situation comes up:

  • XMX Param is set to 1gb (Xmx1g). See Screenshot 1 (2015-12-22 16_02_18-mRemoteNG - confCons.xml.png)
  • Platform Support Tool says that I have atleast 1GB (1024MB) to set for max heap size. See Screenshot 2 (2015-12-22 16_02_37-mRemoteNG - confCons.xml.png)

So is like in relation with hard drives 1gb is not 1024 mb ;-)

WebI report based on Hadoop is rounding the data to 2 decimal places

Hi,

Issue: A WebI report based on Hadoop is rounding the numeric data to 2 decimal places.

Environment details: BI 4.1 SP5, Cloudera Hadoop 5.4.0, Impala query to connect to Hadoop, .unx universe

Issue details: A .unx universe has been created based on Hadoop. Amount columns from Hadoop have data with 1 to 10 digits after decimal place. These Amount columns are used in Dimension object with Numeric data type or Measure object with Aggregated function. No number formatting applied to these objects.

When a WebI report was created using these objects, data for these objects get rounded to 2 decimal places automatically.

Data in HadoopData appearing in the WebI report
123.4568123.46
785.789053456785.79
56.65432189756.65
9765.501639765.5

Is there any way to get all the digits after decimal place in the WebI report?

Vinesh

Downgrade Business Objects 4.1 SP6 to SP5

Hello Experts,

I have a issue when upgraded from BI 4.1 SP5 P 5 to BI 4.1 SP6 P 0.

Issue: When I tried to schedule a report and select destination I get the ".destination plugin missing". I checked the AJS on CMC and the destination gets the error but it different and gives ".destination plugin" missing.

After seeing a SAP note 2208269

similar to our issue and applied the SP 7 update to the BI 4.1 SP6 P 0. The issue still shows up and now, I have a snapshot of the environment we put back to BI 4.1 SP6 P 0. After having the snapshot from SP6 , we lost BI 4.1 SP5 P 5. As a last try, we did a BI 4.1 SP6 P 5 update and still have the issue. So, we checked with SAP and they gave us some directions to do, which are assumptions as of today. But, now do we have an option of downgrading the current BI 4.1 SP6 P5 to BI 4.1 SP5 Patch 5? What are the potential risks doing that? All our objects are in 4.1 environment.

The reason to get the update done, as many of users are worried that as our company IE browser is rolling out IE 11 on Jan,2016. Microsoft says they have issues supporting the IE 9 from Jan 13th,2016. Now we have the ball to play with. Need your valued comments on this.

Please suggest....

Thanks

Venkat

I was connecting to SQL Server 2008 using OLEDB in Universe Designer, which is a BO client machine.

It was giving the below error:

CS: COM Provider CLSID not specified or erroneous

I modifying the “sqlsrv.sbo” file located on client machine at “D:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\oledb”

<Parameter Name="Enumerator CLSID">SQLNCLI10 Enumerator</Parameter>

To:

<Parameter Name="Provider CLSID">SQLOLEDB</Parameter>

<Parameter Name="Enumerator CLSID">SQLOLEDB Enumerator</Parameter>

Connection was successful. So, I checked the Universe for Integrity checks and imported the universe to BO 4.1 Server.

Restarted the SIA

When I tried to refresh the report, it gives error as “The following Database error occurred: (CS “com CLSID not specified or erroneous (IES 10901)

Hello,

Our developers started to see errors while logging into BI LaunchPad and Crystal, showing:

Account information, not recognized: Logon Failed. Please make sure you are a member of a valid mapped group.

When I go into CCM in the server and go to manage servers, with admin account I get error:

Unable to logon: could not connect to server xxxx. Please check server name is correct and that the server is running.

In the Configuration tab of the SIA properties I get the following error:

Failed to retrieve cluster name from the database. Reason: Failed to decrypt object 100 using cryptographic key ID: 4..

When I was checking the server event viewer the first error I see is the following:

SAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: All connections to CMS system database ""CMS_BOBJ41DEV"" are lost.

CMS is entering the ""Waiting For Resources"" state. Reason [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid column name 'SI_TABLE'.

SAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: All connections to CMS system database ""CMS_BOBJ41DEV"" are lost.  CMS is entering the ""Waiting For Resources"" state. Reason [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid column name 'ObjName'.

And after that I keep seeing the failed to decrypt error:

CMS is unstable and will shut down immediately. Reason: Failed to decrypt object 100 using cryptographic key ID: 4. (FWB 00087)

I was doing some research and tried to re-create the cluster key and it gives the same decryption error

I Have created a SAP ticket with no response yet (1057993)

Any thoughts?

We are on BI 4.1 SP3, sql server 2012 for cms & audit db

Cannot open db2 bo report in BI launch pad..server busy error

Hi All,

Cannot open db2 BO report in BI launch pad base on a universe    ..server busy error.

It work fine in Rich client but not BI launch pad . User only use BI launch pad

This happens when refresh to select values from the list of values from the prompt summary.

Workaround, import and export the universe connection works fine.

There is one predefined filter which is causing that error

Below is  the condition properties

@Select(Brf\Rlb) IN @Prompt('5. Enter Station Number (Enter 0 for all stations)','N','Brf\Rlb',multi,free) or 0 in @Prompt('5. Enter Station Number (Enter 0 for all stations)','N','Brf\Rlb',multi,free)

Any solution

Sizing the Crystal Reports for Enterprise processing server?

$

0

I have a couple of questions about sizing Crystal Reports for Enterprise.

In the latest SAP BusinessObjects BI4 sizing guide (dated 20 February 2014), it states

Crystal Reports 2011 child processes default to 40 jobs each while Crystal Reports for Enterprise child processes default to 20 jobs each.

Is the CR4E server less capable than CR2011/CR2013, since it's "automatic" limit is halved? Will the "automatic" value be higher in BI 4.2?
Also, on page 58, the guide shows setting the CR4E maximum concurrent jobs to 80. But I'm not seeing a rule of thumb that says the value can be safely set based on the number of CPU's in the node. Are there any rules of thumb/best practices for setting this value, since obviously the "automatic" value of 20 won't be sufficient in large environments?

Promotion Manager Causing Report Discrepancies

$

We are having issues involving the Promotion Management tool from the CMC in Business Objects 4.1 SP5. Basically, when we promote a report from one environment to the other (Development to Test) certain custom fields are removed and others are added. The custom fields are identical in each environment, i.e. our “Submitter Full Name” field is defined the same way in Development as it is in Test, yet it gets removed from the report and replaced with other fields when it is promoted to Test. This happens in more than one report. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any idea why this is happening?

Business Objects 4.1 - System Name Upgrade\Change

Hi Everyone,

We have BI 4.1 Application server  (say server ABC  ) and Web server (Tomcat say server XYZ) running on Windows OS.

We are getting an Infrastructure upgrade leading to a change in the Computer/host/ip names that is , ABC will be ABC1 and XYZ will be XYZ1 with new ip addresses.

How do we connect our BO servers in this new system and what precautions do we need to follow ?

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Rakesh

Enable the "Enable Memory Analysis" on the Webi Processing Servers

$

Hi, when running the BI Platform Support Tool, we got alerts that we had to enable the "Enable Memory Analysis" on the Web Processing Servers. But we intentionally disabled this, as we saw it is not a  good practice anymore in BI 4.x. See Ted Ueda's post in

Revisit the Sizing for your deployment of BI 4.x Web Intelligence Processing Servers!

Section "BI 4.1 - Do Not Enable Memory Analysis"

So for me this is confusing.

If the above mentioned SCN-Post is true, then maybe the BI Platform Support Tool must be adapted so it does not recommend anymore to enable this setting ?

Can anybody of the SAP-BI4 specialist give a final statement for this ?

Many thanks

Date format change plateform wide

$

Hello Experts,

I'll explain my problem and what's the solution we're trying to implement.

We have BIP 4.1 SP3 and are using both universes and BW. BW has been upgraded from 7.0.1 to 7.4 and all of the old WAD needed to be replaced. We choosed to use Design Studio and the Generic analysis template.

We have encountered several problem during it, but the last and thougher one is the date format.

Before with the WAD on BW, the SU01 paramters were taken in account and the date was displayed with YYYY/MM/DD. Now with Design Studio on BIP, the CMC preference language and its associated ISO date format is taken in account.

Users are all using English US, which give us the format: m/D/YYYY which is a no go as it is a massive change for the massive population of BW. Unfortunately, none of the installed languages gives us buth the correct language and date format.

We do not have any problem with WEBI or other BO software as, most of the time, formulas can be used to adjust the format.

Do you know if it is possible to alter the BI Plateform date format associated to the different installed language pack ? We want to change it plateform wide and make sur all of the users will have exactly the same.

I looked into the different configuration files on BIP without finding something useful ... Any other Idea ?

PS : we're using crosstabs on DS and nothing can be done to alter format ...

Thank you in advance.

Kerberos(SSO): throw RC4 away, adopt AES !

$

Hello,

We can find on "SAP Community" site many nice tutorials explaining how to configure "Windows AD" authentication + SSO.

Some of them are quite old or are recent copies from parts of old ones.

In Kerberos configuration "krb5.ini" file, they all give RC4 algorithm for encryption type to be used. That was true with "Windows Server 2003"...

/!\ But be careful, in 2015 and soon 2016, RC4 is no more considered as a secured encryption algorithm /!\

Assuming nobody uses" Windows Server 2003" anymore, I would strongly suggest you to modify "krb5.ini" sample files like this :

Replace:

default_tgs_enctypes = rc4-hmac

default_tkt_enctypes = rc4-hmac

with:

default_tgs_enctypes = aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96

default_tkt_enctypes = aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96

or even better (requires Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files for Java 7 or 8)

default_tgs_enctypes = aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96

default_tkt_enctypes = aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96

In fact, it's Microsoft's recommandation for "Windows Server 2008 R2" and above.

I've tested SAP/BO BI4.1 SP7 + AES-128 and AES-256 for Kerberos on Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 R2: it works great !

In fact, it would be nice if the authors of tutorials could modify them and add this security update.

Don't joke with security ! ;o)

Stephane.

Unable to upload/publish crystal report to BI Platform

Dear Experts, Our cyrstal report users encounter an error while publishing/adding crystal reports to Enterprise BI Platform. The error is

'This error occurred: Adding Crystal Report "Report_Name.rpt" failed. The report contains a desktop data source connection that cannot be saved to SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) Platform. To save the report to BI Platform, open it in the SAP Crystal Reports designer application and set the data source location to a BI Platform connection.'

This error occurs for all the reports the user/administrator try to publish to the BI Platform. Here are the steps followed to publish the report -

  1. I am logged on to the BI Launchpad
  2. I navigate to my favorites folder
  3. I click on add new document
  4. I select from local file
  5. I point to the locally stored crystal report (already run and tested in CR as working)
  6. I go to upload and I receive error message
  7. I have tested to see if it is the report itself but this does not appear to be the case.

SEE Error screen shot attached.

Please advice the root cause and solution to fix this error.

Hi,

I'm trying to configure SSO for infoview, completely followed TIm ziemba's instruction manual for configuring SSO, SSO works fine with with hostname and FQDN but not with IP address. Are there any further steps for IP address to work for SSO.  have set up an SPN for IP too!

Has any one come across such scenario.

Any help would be appreciated.
