My company planning to implement a project which require mass distribution of reports to agents.

Software: SAP BI Platform 4.1 SP 06

Method 1:

Scheduled a Webi publication with dynamic recipients to run monthly or quarterly to send to a folder, then our own web portal will grab the report, agents will access the report through web portal.

Number of reports: 5000 report

Format: PDF

Method 2:

Scheduled a Webi publication with dynamic recipients to run monthly or quarterly to send to each agent through email.

Number of reports: 5000 reports

Format: PDF

My questions are:

1) Is both methods workable?

2) Is there any publication/ distribution limit? Is the limitation tied to the number of Named User License & Concurrent session-based License (CSBL)?Any difference for method 1 & 2?

So far i could only found some information for Crystal Report Server 2013:

5 CALs - 100 recipients

10 CALs - 250 recipients

20 CALs - 1000 recipients

250 CALs - unlimited recipients

Does this applied to SAP BI Platform 4.1 also?

3) Any sizing guideline or performance tuning for this kind of mass distribution?

I've been searching for answers for quite some time now but without success .

I am trying to find a way to connect a Universe to the CMS Database. I know, there are ways to query the CMS DB (Query Builder, SDK, ...) but I want to connect to it directly (through RESTful API maybe??).

A workaround would be to extract the CMS data through SDK and store it in a different database, but it still isn't an optimal solution.

Any suggestions ?

this time i have a little problem - i cannot determine which universe is being used by the WEBI report.

I've found some articles here around this topic, but using query builder to know which reports are being used by the universe is not an answer.

I have lots of universes and i want to know which one is used by particular report.

Some time ago I was able to do this, by opening report, then i've clicked to 'Data Access' and lateto on 'Edit' and in 'Master Perspective' I've seen universe name with objects being used in the universe.

Lately our users use other kind of universes, I'm not sure how they did this, but somehow in place, that I've seen universe name earlier i can now find some strange name (diferent then my universes) with some objects, like a universe (it should be visible on screen below - marked with orange color).

So please help me - what is this name marken with orange and how to check which universe(universes) is being used by this report.

Unfortunately the XML code has Errors and is not validated successfully.

What would be the correct coding. Has someone a good and correct example.

We have 2 machines on Windows Server 2012 R2, and installed on both BI4.1 SP7.

On the test machine all works and on the pre-production machine, we have a java problem with the UMT, whne we execute it, we have this error :

We tried many solutions without success, and both machines have the same Java version (7.80 64bits), same OS, etc...

We tried to copy the "upgrademanagementtool.jar" from the test machine to the other one, we execute on a CMD windows :

I installer Crystal Server 13 in a machine and I think that the installation was successful. The Central Configuration Manager can be launched and all the services in there are running properly, based on the information displayed in the application window.

I have another server from which I’m trying to connect to the aforementioned Crystal Server in an attempt to display a report.

I keep getting, however, an API Sockets connection error.

My question is the following: Is there some sort of test utility that I could use to check if the Crystal Server was properly set up to receive and process report requests?

What I’d like to know is if there is some sort of setup error related to Crystal Server or if the problem is on the other machine.

Hi All,

I wanted to know how we implement user security on AO reports built on HANA Calculation Views.

In my calculation view, I am having a BOUSER prompt created along with other set of prompts to restrict the data as per the user authorization for data across zones.

So when I do a AO Excel report on top of this view, it will prompt for BOUSER.

Now, I am looking for a functionality/feasibility where instead of prompting for BOUSER, it should take the USERID logged in as and fetch the data according to the authorization for data.

Ex:

Let us say we have 3 users A, B, C

User A is having access only to see US data

User B is having access to see US and Canada data

User C is having access to see only Canada data

If User A opens the AO report, instead of prompting the user to enter BOUSER, if should consider his loginid as default input for the prompt and fetch only US Data.

Similarly when User B opens the report, it should fetch US and Canada data and same is the case with User C to fetch only Canada data.

Please advice if this is possible, if not are there any work around to achieve this functionality.

Users/group in QA is taking too long to populate. Dev and prod are good.

I have updated  LDAP  authentication, but still takes longer time to load.

It takes about 30mins to open, but will not allow to select.

First off, I'm new to universe work. So thanks in advance!

I have a universe and I'm getting the " ora-01775: looping chains of synonyms State: N/A" when I parse an object.

I'm not sure if this is a universe issue, database issue, or access issue.

I look in the db and found a synonym with the same name as my object. I saw that the table owner is v500.

I tried to update my object by using that owner like so:

v500.tracking_checkin.tracking_id but this didn't help.

Since the error message mentions loop, I thought of checking for the loops in this unvierse and there are 500 or more. I say more because the tool said that not all of the cardinalities had been set. Looking through 500 loops to isolate one that "might" be associated with my issue seems impossible.

Am I looking in the wrong direction?

We did a custom components and driver install during our initial platform installation and we missed a few drivers that we want to include now. Now we can run the setup as "modify" and include the missing drivers. Now i think if i run the modify then the tomcat files will be updated/reset also. before i ran the a "modify" or "repair" i had a few questions:

1- whats the difference between running setup as "Modify" vs ""repair"

2- If i run as "Modify" then i am assuming it will update/reset my tomcat files such as web.xml and server.xml file - is that correct? and will running as "repair" updates/resets tomcat files also?

3- When we run a fix pack or update service packs on business objects, does that update/reset tomcat files also?

Hi Experts,

I am facing an issue in BusinessObjects/HANA.
BO platform : BO 4.1 SP7
HANA : SPS08

In HANA if we add an Input Parameter/Variable, it will show in BO-Information Design Tool(IDT) while refreshing structure of the Data Foundation.
But i am facing an issue that it's not showing IP/Variable in BO 4.1 Sp6 patch 1 to higher level. (Tried SP6 Patch1, SP6 Patch2 and SP7).

But it will work in BO 4.1 SP6.

So we have a doubt, is that because of the version of HANA is not compatible with the BO ? Is there any remedy by installing any patch file in BO to make it compatible or any other solution please let me know.
