Invalid confidential channel (FWB00032) & Good Access Browser

Hi All,

 

Our IT team have recently rolled out the Good Access browser to all coroprate mobiles (Iphone).

 

The Good Browser / "Good Access" App lets users view the intranet and get as far as the BI Lunch pad, so i assume the connection is secure and inside of our network.

 

However, when I try and log inot the launch pad, the error message "Invalid confidential channel (FWB 00032)" appears and I am unable to get any further.

 

After some searching, it would appear that FIPS may have be cuasing the problem, FIPS is currently disabled .

 

We are using 4.1 SP6.

 

Has anyone else had the same problem and has anyone managed to find a work around  / fix?

BO Dashboards on ECC System

Hi All,

 

We have a requirements to develop & build 10 BO Dashboards directly connected to ECC system.(without developing the BW Netweaver layer)

Customer has purchased the BO license.

 

Could you suggest the best BO tool to develop the KPI Dashboards

Have listed few tools considering this ECC --> BO scenario (for the KPI Dashboards)

 

1) ECC  -->  IDT Universe --> SAP Dashboards

2) ECC  ---> IDT Universe ---> Webi

3) ECC  ---> Crystal Reports

4) ECC  ---> Lumira

 

Kindly provide your inputs.

multisource IDT connect BOE audit and csm database

I created in the Information Design Tool (BO 4.1 SP6) a multisource data foundation. In this foundation I joined the BO CSM and Audit database.

Both databases have a different connection. Therefore 2 catalogs are created

Besides these 2 databases there is 3rd connection which point to our own database

 

 

Below the script which should join the Audit and CSM database.

@catalog('BOCSM')."BOcsm_dev.dbo"."CMS_InfoObjects7"."SI_CUID"=@catalog('BOAUDIT')."BOaudit_dev.dbo"."ADS_EVENT"."Object_ID

 

When I validate this join I get an " invalid expression" error:

Types 'NULL' and 'VARCHAR' are not compatible for operator '='

 

The column SI_CUID has a datatype varbinary and the column OBJECT_ID a varchar datatype. With CAST I tried to convert varbinary to varchar, but also this does not work.

 

How can I join the BOE Audit and CSM database in a multisource data foundation?

CMS is down due to corrupted object in CMS DB

Dear Expert,

 

we have problem in BO4.1 SP5.1 platform frequently that CMS DB object will corrupted that doest deleted automatically,

 

we got the corrupted objectid in the log and then we just query directly in CMS DB and then deleted.

we dont know what is that object/object type also, Audit DB doesn't give any details.

 

we could not able to restart the CMS server until we delete corrupted object manually.

 

Anybody faced this problem before??

 

we know the corrupted object name but it is in encrypted format, any idea can it possible to decrypt using BO SDK??

Promotion Management "object has failed to promote"

Hi Guys

 

I am facing an issue in a production system. Components are:

  • BO 4.1 SP4 patch 7
  • ORACLE 11 cms repository (installed on a remote AIX box)
  • Tomcat 7
  • Windows 2008 R2 operative system with 32GB of RAM on it.

 

on the same platform, Data Services 4.2 SP3 patch 1, Information Steward 4.2 SP3 patch 1 and Design Studio 1.6 are installed as well.

 

Any kind of transport job I try to promote FAILS:

  • transport from LCMBIAR files;
  • transport "live" FROM other BO systems;
  • transport "live" TO other BO systems.


The on-screen error is not so useful (clicking on "failure" status):

I have already tried (with no success) to:


  • restart Adaptive Job Server;
  • recreate Adaptive Job Server;
  • switched Adaptive Job Server "request port" configuration from fixed to "auto assign";
  • recreate Adaptive Processing Server with CORE services (in particular "promotion management clear case service" and "promotion management service");
  • obviously restart the whole node;
  • stop Apache Tomcat, delete "work" folder and restart Tomcat to let it recreate a new one.

 

For the time being I am transporting objects on this production system with test system promotion management but I'd like to find the reason of this issue.

OpenDocument SSO Issue in Chrome

SSO is not working for Open Document in Google Chrome. However, SSO for BI Launchpad works ok in Chrome. We are using LDAP, SAP and Trusted Authentication mechanism for SSO. Also, SSO works OK in IE browser for both OpenDocument and BI Launchpad.

 

Environment Details - BO 4.1 SP6 Patch 4 (Linux OS)

 

We have also followed the instructions provided in the SAP Note - "1887193 - I'm unable to perform SSO with BI using my Google Chrome browser". However it did not help.

 

Any thoughts?

Scheduling Limitation?

Hi all,

 

We are having issues with scheduling for large number of publications in BO. When I schedule ~560 profiles to run between 3-4 hours time most of them were failed. All publications are using crystal reports.

 

Error when i try to re run:

Is there any limitation for scheduling in BO?

what are the best ways to schedule large number of reports?

Is the SIA in Crystal Server 2013 the same as the RAS in previous versions?

I am not an expert in BI/Crystal Server, so this may be a dumb question.

 

I recently migrated from Crystal Server 2008 to 2013.

I used CRS 2008 to display reports that were requested from an aspx form.

To handle the requests, we used the Report Application Server, which was available in the Central Configuration Manager.

 

In CRS 2013 I don't see the RAS in the CCM, I see a Server Intelligence Agent instead.

Are these services the same thing?

In other words, can the SIA perform the same functions that the RAS did? Or was the RAS moved somewhere else?

I checked the installation guide for CRS 2013 and I don't see any mention of the RAS anywhere.

Multiple calculations in OLAP

My apologies if I am posting this in the wrong area, I find the SAP site very messy!

 

I am trying to do multiple calculations in one report. For example, I would like to total all the data, total data from 1/2014-12/2014, total data from 1/2015-12/2014, calculate the growth between years, etc. Most Google searches have had instructions like those found in this article: SAP Integration Update 13 - Using Calculations in SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, OLAP edition.

 

However, the first snag I come across is that as soon as a highlight one or more columns, the calculations button is grayed out. Calc.JPG

 

I am able to highlight multiple columns and click "Show Totals," but not only is it limited to addition alone, SAP will only display one set of results at a time, so I can't have "2014 Totals," "2015 Totals," and "Overall Totals," just one.

Email failure notifications for existing reports

Hello,

 

I am a systems analyst who doesn't run any type of reports myself - I was asked by my department to take over a project, and am pretty much starting from knowledge base zero, so any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

 

I was asked to develop a system of failure notification for existing reports. From what I have searched online and through the SAP discussion portals, such notification can be specified on the report level, but due to the current volume of reports in our BO system, it sounds as if going through and specifying email notification on each report would not be a viable solution. I have also read that this type of "global" request is best addressed through an SDK, but I am unaware of where to start with that. I noticed that there was both a .NET SDK and Java SDK subgroup and I did not know if one platform would be more suited than the other to address, or if the platform used relies on how the BO system is set up. I was given access to a test server which is running BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP6. I thought there might be a way to find out where a report is given the status of "Failure" in the Content Management Server database and somehow glean the connected report information from there, but was having trouble finding which table that might be in or if that is even a meaningful direction to go in.

 

As I said, I am flying somewhat blind when it comes to the framework of the BI platform, so please let me know what further information is needed. Even a point in a specific direction, I feel, would be greatly beneficial to me in my current position. Thank you for your time and any help you can offer.

Oracle 12c.

 

Report not able to connect to database. There is no ior file in temp folder . Looks like java process doesn't start. Please help!

Currently we are on BI4.1 SP3 , In WIPS metrics we can see the "Current number of active sessions" . Is there a way we can see which user, report.session start time etc.. is using these sessions ?

SAP BO 4.1 (SP5) and Adobe Flash Player

Hi,

 

We are using the SAP BO BI 4.1 (Sp5) platform for reporting (Webi- andCrystal-Reports) as well as the following client tools:

 

- Clienttools for SAP-BusinessObjects-BI-Plattform

- SAP BusinessObjects Analysis

- SAP BusinessObjects LiveOffice

- SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards

- SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio

 

Our IT provider would like to replace Adobe Flash Player and ShockwavePlayer.

 

 

Are any of these two tools prerequisites for our BO tools (client andweb)? I know Flash Player is supported according to the PAM but that does not make it a prerequisite, does it? Will the tools and the reports still work without?

CMS query behavior XI3 vs. BI4.

In XI3, I can query on a truncated date value.  For example, to get objects updated in 2016 I use:

 

select si_id,si_update_ts from ci_infoobjects where si_update_ts >= '2016'

 

or, to get objects updated in July, 2015:

select si_id,si_update_ts from ci_infoobjects where si_update_ts between '2015-07' and '2015-08'

 

Both of these queries work just fine in XI3, but not in BI4.1.  The first query above produces zero rows, and the second produces an error message:

The value '2015-07' cannot be compared to the value in the property SI_UPDATE_TS because the type conversion is not valid.

 

I have to provide the full y/m/d to get results:

select si_id,si_update_ts from ci_infoobjects where si_update_ts >= '2016-01-01'

 

select si_id,si_update_ts from ci_infoobjects where si_update_ts between '2015-07-01' and '2015-08-01'

 

Was this just an "undocumented feature" in XI3 that no longer works in BI4?

Cannot see JAVA installed after BI4.1 SP6 Installation

Hi All,

 

I have done a fresh installation of BI4.1 SP6.

I am not able to modify report in Java applet mode.

 

When checked in Control panel, I do not see JAVA installed along with Tomcat.

 

Installation document does not say about installing JAVA separately.

 

Do you know what could be the issue ? How do I fix it ?

Completion time and Server name of failed instances

Hi,

 

If i go to CMC>Instance Manager i can see the Completion Time, Expiry and Server name listed for failed instances.

 

How can i get it using the code. I believe Expiry is SI_ENDTIME, for completion time i tried SI_COMPLETION_TIME did not work.

 

For server i am using this code - Select * From CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS Where SI_KIND='Server' and SI_NAME='Server.AdaptiveJobServer'

I think this is not correct, any other way to capture it?

Cannot load query (data provider "DS_2": No service implementation available)

HI Experts,

 

I am facing an error while runing the design studio page from BI lainch pad, I have this application working on OLAP connetion with SSO authentication. Now the issue here is if i run the DS application locally it executes with query authentications, however when i run the application in BI launch pad it throws this error for each data source.

 

I have no language selected in my OLAP connection, can anybody please advise if there is any specific setting in CMC which will run my application on BI launch pad.

 

NOTE- I tried creating a crystal report on top of the SSO connection, this application runs fine locally as well as on BI launch pad.

Crystal 2013 report loses data when View on Demand

We are having a problem with one of our major production reports. The report is a Crystal 2013 report and when the users are Viewing the report On Demand the report is missing data. The missing data is inconsistent, it is not always the same data that is missing when the report is run.

 

The report connects to an SAP data source using the Open SQL driver to connect directly to several SAP tables and an ABAP function module on the  source system for a data source; so the report is doing all the work for joining the tables and sorting in addition to rendering. We are running on a BI 4.1 SP5 platform.

 

We have already tried changing the viewing settings on the report so the Viewer Refresh Always Yields Current Data is checked and the Oldest on-demand data given to client setting is set to 0 seconds to try and eliminate the possibility that caching might be part of the problem.

 

When the report is Scheduled there does not seem to be any issues, it is only when the users are Viewing it on demand that there is data missing from the report; so the data seems to get to the server. So we think it must be something with the Crystal Reports 2013 Processing Server or the Crystal Reports Cache Server but we have not been able to determine where the problem is occurring.

 

This report is only run around this time of year, and there were no problems with it when it was run January-February of last year. Other than there being more data in the source system the only other major change has been the move to BI 4.1 SP5, which happened last summer (the system was on BI 4.1 SP3 when the report was run this time last year).

 

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
