Text outside object bounds when viewing Crystal Report from web

We've noticed when viewing our reports over the web (in the BI Launchpad) the text in the report rendered in the viewer stretches past the right-hand edge of the container object. This is especially obvious when the object has a border set, the text clearly overlaps the border and appears outside of the object bounds.

This causes problems for printing, as we use PDF printing and Export to PDF. The PDF export renders the text as it appears in the Viewer, meaning some text is outside the bounds of the container object in the report, and then dutifully clips the text container to the object width width defined in the report so the text that is outside the bound gets cut off in the PDF.

The problem is obvious even in the Crystal Reports 2011 designer. If I view a report using regular preview the text is fine, if I preview it using HTML Preview in the designer the text goes outside the object boundaries.

Our design standard on most reports is to use Times New Roman 9 pt. I tested changing the font size and when I tried 10 pt the problem was even worse.

I have tried changing user preferences for the Crystal viewer in the Launchpad. The rendering resolution is set to Auto Detect. If I set it to 96 dpi explicitly then the problem is even worse than under 120 dpi.

I tested the reports through the web (viewing them via BI Launchpad and the CMC) on both a BI 4.0 SP05 patch 7 and a BI 4.1 SP02 patch 0 system (both running on Windows Server 2008) and confirmed the problem occurs under both versions.

Is there anything we can do to fix this?

Thanks
