question about schudel owners in enterprise XI 3.0/3.1

Hi

I am brand new to the whole SAP BO world.

I am trying to undertake a simple task to start learning my way around.

We are using SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI. We have about 15 report developers using crystal reports to give information to various people within the organization. As I was getting some in house training, the current person in charge of keeping all this running was telling me that he was having a problem. It seemed like a simple enough problem for me to tackle, so that is what I am doing.

When a report writer leaves, their report instances become owned by “administrator” and  stop running. The current administrator goes in, creates a new schedule under some other user and the report starts running again.

I assume, this has to do with permission.  Not permissions in BO, but more likely on our server – does that make sense?

Beyond that, I have read in the SAP education manual for BO enterprise XI 3.0/3.1 administration and security, that best practices direct that you should create a specific user that all report should be schedule by.

We have a few hundred reports all owned by different people. Is there some simple way to transfer all the schedules to a new, single user?

I have done a little searching and it seems like a lot of people reference using the SDK to do this.  Is this really the only and best way to accomplish this task? If so, does anyone have code that accomplishes this?

Also, how do other people enforce this?

As I said, we have a number of report writers; they add and schedule their reports via InfoView. When I was looking at that, it seems like there is no way for them to select who owns the schedule they create and it just defaults to their username. This would then be counter to the best practices.  However, in CMC, it seems like you do have a way of selecting who owns the scheduled report.

Do most people out there either allow their report writes to access CMC or do they just have the writers upload the report and then have the administrator schedule them under the default user?
