Envt : SAP BO BI 4.1 SP 2. We've been experimenting on the best way to display the BEx variables LOVs when using an OLAP connection. While the search feature is handy, any time the LOV number exceeds the value set by the admins, an error appears:
com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.CommunicationException$UnexpectedServerException: com.businessobjects.mds.olap.protocol.bics.LovLimitExceededBicsAdapterException: Number of requested members exceeds 5000 ; please do a search by element instead.
I know about the options sap.sl.bics.bicslovlimit and WebiParamMaxLovSize and do not want to set the parameters too high lest we run into memory issues. All I'm looking for is a way to show a partial LOV instead of the error to the end users. If anyone does know of a way to do this, the help will be much appreciated.
