We have scenarios where a few users that belong to different groups will need access to a report that is under a specific department or functional role's folder. We cannot grant them access to that folder, since they should not see other reports in that folder.
What is the best way to meet this requirement? I know BOXI admin guide recommends never granting rights on report objects.
We're thinking of creating a 'shared' folder under the departmental folder that reports can go into, we'd then create a user group for that report and add users to the group. We would either grant rights to that report (against best practices) or create a folder and put the one report in it, which seems a bit overkill.
This situation will likely continue to reoccur, leading to a proliferation of groups and folders. Sometimes the groups or folders could be reused, but it is unlikely.
Is this the way to go about it, or are there better approaches?
