BO client remote login access to BIP Server 4.2 on Win Server 2012 on Virtual machine

Hi All,

I have installed BI4.2 SP2 on Windows Server 2012 OS on a Virtual machine on my laptop. I would like to install below client components and connect to the Virtual machine Server

BI Client tools (IDT, RCT, UMT etc.)

Design studio

Lumira

Xcelsius

Crystal

BO Data Services etc.

Can you guide me through the process of accessing BI Launchpad, CMC and connections from above mentioned clients from outside of the virtual machine/Server (e.g. Connecting to my BI Platform server from Lumira or Analysis for Excel (below) and how I do the setup. As you see it is hard to install all these on the same server OS

I see in some posts it was mentioned that "to access the web based CMC and Launchpad all I need is a web browser and a connection that lets http pass through to the machine where the BO Server runs on", How do I actually set this up?

I have never done this before, your detailed inputs/links will be highly appreciated. I am not sure if there is something I do on Server manager (roles, features etc.) or any configuration.

Another question, I have BODS 4.2 SP7 Can I install this on my Windows 8 like another client outside the virtual Server OS with BI Server, I need to have DS Management console and other tools. I get below when tried installing on Windows 8. Do BODS and BIP have to be on the same machine??

We have installed a trial version of Crystal Server. When we launch a report, we use something like this:

http://servername:8080/BOE/CMC/1606020932/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=7122&apsuser=erp_viewer&apspassword=password

The report runs okay. But there is no way to log off the sessions. Even when we close the browser. So we run out of concurrent licenses very quickly.

The only option is either to reboot the server or wait the sessions to time out (which is about 20 minutes). Is there a way to resolve the issue? We are using Crystal Server 2013 SP1 (BI Platform 4.1 SP1).

Hi all,

i got a problem with parameters running reports with BI Launchpad. I definied dynamic parameters that read a database field filled with about 2000 rows and group names. Now the parameter should allow the user running the report to choose from all those insers.

But the problem is that there are just shown 5 sites of content and this is about 250 inserts and rows. Then i tried to search some missing content through the filter but even there its not found. It looks to me like the parameter is just filled with 250 options and not more.

Is this right? Can i adjust the number of values shown in dynamic parameters somewhere? Or does someone know if this is a problem with dynamic parameters just?

Hello All,

I am trying to install BI4.1 SP07 and it failed at the 100% point (Uncaching Deployment Units..) during the installation process.

Some info:

- Its VM with no other applications

- OS: RH Linux 2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64 x86_64

- Memory: 32 GB

- Using Oracle DB for CMS and audit

- Using bundled Tomcat

- All the prerequisites were met

- Did the Full installation

The first error file (in ../InstallData/logs/) had this..

There is insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment to continue.

# Cannot create GC thread. Out of system resources.

# Possible reasons:

# The system is out of physical RAM or swap space

# In 32 bit mode, the process size limit was hit

# Possible solutions:

# Reduce memory load on the system

# Increase physical memory or swap space

# Check if swap backing store is full

# Use 64 bit Java on a 64 bit OS

# Decrease Java heap size (-Xmx/-Xms)

# Decrease number of Java threads

# Decrease Java thread stack sizes (-Xss)

# Set larger code cache with -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=

# JRE version: (6.0_75-b13) (build )...

A quick memory check got me this...

I am not sure what my next step is and hence seeking help.

Try to uninstall BI4.1 (in Linux)? How can I manage the memory?

In the official document "SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP5 for Windows – Supported Platforms" ( http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-20551 ), I can read, page 9 :

in "Data Source Middleware Support" chapter

for "CMS (Repository) & Audit Data Sources"

Provider Name	Data Connector
IBM DB2/UDB for NT/Unix/Linux 9.1	DB2 Client 9.1
IBM DB2/UDB for NT/Unix/Linux 9.5	DB2 Client 9.5
IBM DB2/UDB for NT/Unix/Linux 9.7	DB2 Client 9.7

I can't see any mention of DB2 on AS/400 (iSeries) but I can see one at the end of page 12 for RDBMS accessed with WebI, DeskI...

Is it an oversight or is it actually impossible to use a BO repository in DB2 database on AS/400 ?

What kind of problem can occur ?

Im getting this error "An internal error occurred while calling 'openDocumentmdp' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)"

when l schedule a webi report it fails. I have search for solution, but no good solution.

Is this an ongoing issue?

Any solution out there.. Please help

Hi experts,

I'm facing some errors in communication between processes:

I have one instance with one CMS server and five Webi processing servers. The auditing process scans all five webi servers to ask for events, it scan successfully 4 of 5 servers.

The other one scan throws an error:

2016/06/08 17:13:58.622|==| | |17170660|9259| |||||||||||||||(auditsubsystem_impl.cpp:2585) Auditor::PullAuditEvents - Corba system exception caught while trying to get audit events from auditee: SIAP646001BIS04.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer2

It's very strange only one server throws error. Any idea how I can trace or get a log of corba calls?

Could you please help if there is a way to find out no of reports in Inbox and Fav folder of the user's.

System configuration: BO 4.1 SP5

I'm back with a tricky question.

I've been trying to figure out by myself, but so far I haven't get any clue.

In my system, I'm currently having a problem for scheduled reports during Day Light Saving change.

Ok, I know the flow (which is described in http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-20403 and is very useful by the way).

I can see that CMS keeps checking on CMS DB for reports that must be triggered at that time, and when the time comes it starts further processing to run the object / report.

My problem:

Let's suppose that I schedule a report to run on 06:00 (let's assume BRT - Brazilian timezone without DST).
Then the DST comes and I stop BO, set the server + 1 hour and start BO.
And now the reports run on 05:00 (let's assume BRST - Brazilian timezone with DST).

Scheduling configuration (i.e.):

Run object: daily

Days(N): 1

Start date/time: 06:00 AM 06/10/2016

As additional INFO: I have set the same TZ in preferences for all users.

Known problem: a long time ago I had the same problem in BO 6.5, and I had to adjust the schedules manually with a fix provided by SAP. But this haven't happening since version 3.1.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hello colleagues,

We have a Production environment in BI4.1 recently updated from SP2 Patch 2 to SP7 Patch 1, composed of 4 nodes, two Intelligence nodes with (RAM 75G each) with CMS server and other two for processing(RAM 65G each), and CMS and Audit DB in Oracle 11g. Both CMS nodes have Tomcat running.

I'm not completely sure if after the update came the issue we are currently experiencing.

We login to the CMC web page without any issues or spinning concerns, but once we are inside the CMC, we are noticing that when we move to "Servers" or "Users and Groups" tabs take too long to load them completely, Servers tab takes 50 seconds to display all Nodes information(I must mention once is fully loaded, we can move through nodes, metrics and properties options without delay or concerns, the spinning is only occurring every time we move to one of these tabs; for Users and groups is taking 1 minute to populate every time we move there, in our DEV and QA environments take less than 10 sec for each tab. Also we have tried using other Tomcat environment(QA) with the same result, All of the other tabs load correctly without delays.

After update we just rebuilt the Paltform Search Index due was not working before update, it was been going slow and due some high usage of the system we just stopped the Platform Search indexing, but the Servers/Users and Groups(Almost 3000 users only) tabs still have the same behavior.

Can you consider this is a normal behavior? Have you experienced this before? Where could be the malfunctioning here is case is something wrong?

I'll appreciate your responses and feedback.

Hello Experts,

We are on BI4.1 SP6 on Win Server 2012 R2, with Tomcat on another server. Basically we have split deployment with BOE on one server and tomcat on another.

In my organization, we have two separate Win AD domains, one domain for corporate users and another for us which is the default domain. I implemented SSO for BILaunchpad with Windows AD authentication and SSO is working fine for the users from the default domain, but it is not working for users from the other domain. They are however are able to manually login by typing in their USERID@DOMAINNAME and their password.

We have the other domain info in the KRB5.ini file and that is how they are able to manually log in. I opened a ticket with SAP for assistance and the rep looked over our configuration and all looked good from the BO side. We are still trying to troubleshoot why the SSO isn't working for other domain users.

We collected wireshark traces from the other domain users and found this error message "KRB Error: KRB5KDC_ERR_S_PRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN".

We searched for duplicated SPN's in both the domains but couldn't find any. The service account we are using for Win AD authentication is created on the default domain.

Any thoughts what else we should be looking into? I appreciate your help and suggestions.

Hi,

When i try to schedule a WEBI report to FTP, i get the below error

"Destination disabled. [CrystalEnterprise.Ftp]: []. Please note the name of the job server used for your request and contact your system administrator to make sure the specified destination is enabled. (FWB 00031)"

I configured the respective FTP credentials in WEBI Adaptive job server under destination and then FTP is working fine now.

But my worry is that i have multiple FTP destinations for different reports but only one Adaptive JOB server..

How i do my configure my BO server in such a way i can satisfy the requirement of FTP'ing different WEBI reports to their different FTP servers using single Adaptive job server
