SAP 4.1 SP2 - How to suppress /BOE/BI

Hello All,

 

 

We have a server under SAP BI 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 (with SSO), and we want to access to launchpad with a simplified URL, such as http://BO-Server.domain.com. So we want to redirect http:// Server:8080/BOE/BI to http://BO-Server.domain.com.

 

All actions on DNS are done and fully working, we have also change the Tomcat (7) port from 8080 to 80, but we don't succeed to change the tomcat' root page. When we go to http://BO-Server.domain.com the tomcat' root page is displayed instead of LaunchPad.

 

Do you know which settings file to change (probably an index.html) ?

BOE - 4.1 SP1 upgrade failed

Hi,

I am upgrading BusinessObjects Explorer from 4.0 to 4.1 SP1 on Unix box, the installation failed with this error "“ERROR: Could not establish a connection with any CMS“.

Have anyone seen this error before?

When adding a Webi to a Promotion Management Job many extra Objects are added

Hi Experts ,

 

Environment : BI 4.0 SP6 , no patches

We have webi reports based on .UNX and .UNV

When we are creating a job to promote reports based on .UNV , .UNX Business layers and connections are getting added to the job.

We found that , webi reports are created by copying the existing report. .UNX files are belongs to copied report.

We found this issue was there for jobs created based on publication .By removing history this will get resolved.

for luck we tried removing the history and creating job ,issue persists.

Please assist to resolve this issue.Thanks in advance.

IDT Login Issue : Session Expires

Hi Experts ,

 

Currently we are using BI 4.1 SP2.

 

We created a user gave the application rights for IDT as Full Control.

 

Once the user opens the IDT and does a insert session and the session gets logged of automatically after showing the Universe & Connection folder.

 

Please let me know your inputs on the same.

Bulk History Purge - CAC History

I now have 915,657 instances in my history.

 

How do I bulk purge these instance entries?

Webi number of Login vs Users never enter.

Hello I need your valuable help with the next information :


For Audit purpose  , I need to obtain the number of Logins event   (Event_Type_ID = 1014 )  but filtered by  user  and tool .

it's important to have the difference between all the business object tools (WEBI , Crystal , Analysis )  but only for Logon event.


and compare this information vs users that never use the system .


Any  idea.

ncs.conf port value & saphostagent port 59818

Hi,

 

I have a problem with ncs.conf  property agent_port=6404 or 59818

I understand that 6404 is default and  sap notes recommend to change it to 59818.

But i don't get how this formula: 5<SMD AGENT Instance Number> 8100 + 18 leads to  a valid port number on customer system?

I scanned every log of SMD agents installed on our landscape and saw only p4 ports like 59804 , 59813. 

59818 doesn't even show up in netstat. I saw a note#1866707 asking to check port blocking. I do not see any blocking. If 59804 and 59813 are active , i do not think firewall will block 59818.

 

I understand sapagentconfig.xml file needs to be checked for BO instances. Unfortunately in our BO systems, this .xml file when opened is showing chinese characters. Hence cannot verify whats there in this file. Anyways it should either 6404 or 59818. But none of the ports are active. Just making the change in file, doesn't make the hostagent process listen on this port.

 

So what is the correct port number that needs to go in ncs.conf for host_agent property?

Please share if you know anything on this area.

Dynamic Recipients Error: Invalid report! Choose another report.

Hi!

 

After install new installation BO 4.1 SP2 and promote all universe (unx), report and publication, we can not bind dynamic subscribers to the publication.

 

Reproducing the Issue:

1. Create publication

2. Shoose source docement

3. Choose the Source for Dynamic Recipients

4. Select the datasource name for the document

5. Error - Dynamic Recipients Error: Invalid report!

Source report "EMails" contains Email list for publications. In 4.0 SP4.6 it worl ok.

 

I Update BO version from 4.1 SP2 to 4.1 SP3, repeat steps, and get some error: Invalid report! Choose another report. 

 

I tried to create a report "EMails" in the new version BO, then I try repeats steps

- choose the Source for Dynamic Recipients - ok

- Select the datasource name for the document - ok - NO ERROR

 

But I can not choose a report field (Recipient Identifier,Full Name,Email):

after I select a field from the combobox, the widget is refreshe and reset field they are all empty.

How to implement "real-time" report with automatic refresh/update?

We need to create a report that queries a real-time database (TimesTen) and automatically refreshes data on an administered schedule, as frequently as every 3 seconds.  How can this be done in a Crystal report launched from the Crystal Report server?

 

Also the report will have 2 sub-reports, 1 query per sub-report.

 

The high-level algorithm, using the Java SDK, would be something like:

 

viewer = new CrystalReportViewer

viewer.setReportSource

viewer.View

while true

     sleep(x)

     viewer.refresh()

viewer.dispose

 

Any specifics on how to do this code?

How(steps) to implement HCM authorizations in BI to support reporting inBO.

Hi ,

 

Can any one explain me the steps need to be followed in HCM ECC side and SAP BI side so that reports can be accessed with BO.

Prerequisites in HCM-ECC side and checks to be maintained in BI(including objects & ODS).

A check list/steps from ECC and BI so that reports can be generated with BO.

what won't work with a temporary key?

when using a temporary key on our dev system (bi platfrom 4 on windows server 2008 r2)  i cannot open the CMC from my local machine (if i try to log in it just flashes back to the login screen). If i remote in to the server and open ie and go to localhost/cmc/etc i can log in sucsesfully. Is this to be expected with a temporary key? is there a list of what will not work with a temporary key on bi platform anywhere?

"CrystalEnterpriseLib.SessionMgr" under Windows 7 / Visual Studio 2008

I have an application that I wrote nearly a year ago, under Windows XP, with Visual Studio 2008 and Crystal Reports 2008.  It uses the CrystalEnterpriseLib and other libraries to connect to the Business Objects Enterprise 12.1.x server and get information on reports so I can run a "report of reports".  I've upgraded to Windows 7, 64bit, and everything works with Crystal Reports and Business Objects, but I cannot get that application to run.  It has been awhile since I've touched this (a year, maybe more) so I'm lost as to why this doesn't work, and as to what needs to be done to make it work.

 

Is there a System Setup Step-By-Step starting point for Windows 7 to connect to a Business Objects server from a Windows 7 VB client?  I have a bazillion code examples from the internet and SAP, and as I said, the code I have worked.  I am missing the system configuration steps that make running the application possible.

 

The application is using the following controls/libraries, which exist on the system, but trying to register the DLLs/COM objects does not work.

CrystalFileDialogLib.EnterpriseLogonControl

EnterpriseSession

CrystalInfoStoreLib.InfoStore

SessionMgr

 

The errors are such that I cannot even open the Logon Form that used to work.  The form loads an active x control to create an enterprise section.  Here's that little bit of code.

Installation Issue: BusinessObjects BI 4.0 SP6 on AIX 7.1

As stated in the title, I am experiencing an issue while trying to install BusinessObjects BI 4.0 SP6 on AIX 7.1.

 

Files were extracted from RAR archives on Windows box using .exe file that came with AIX installer. Files were FTP'd to the AIX server and permissions were changed to 777 for the entire directory, owner was changed to "webi" from root.

 

When trying to run ./setup.sh, the installer does not actually start:

 

webi@<host>:/apps/BusinessObjectsA/51046020/DATA_UNITS/BusinessObjectsServer_aix > ./setup.sh

/apps/BusinessObjectsA/51046020/DATA_UNITS/BusinessObjectsServer_aix/setupexe -launchedFromSH

Finished, return code is 0

 

I did not find the output very informative and was not sure how to proceed. I've looked at similar threads and the problem usually turns out to be a permission issue, but usually that is clear from the output. I've used the chmod -R 777 /apps/BusinessObjectsA/51046020 command to set permissions and also tried running with root so thinking that is not the case here.

 

Any ideas on what it could be or where to look next?

 

Please let me know if additional information would be helpful... Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thank you!

Error in source system

hi guys,

I have tried to access process it holds delta load for Master data attribute.It get failed due to error Last delta incorrect and data need to be repeated.

 

for this i deleted the error request from my data source and tried to delete the initialization for that object and try to load initialization without data transfer and it was succesful and then i tried to run that delta request. now again my delta got failed and i checked the error message its showing "Error in Source System...." i tried many steps but still i cant rectify the error.

 

 

Please help me out....

Note

SAP BO Translation Management Tool

Hi,

 

 

I am using the SAP BO Translation Management Tool to translate our WEBI reports into French language. Most of the queries are getting translated properly and after the export to the server they are available in French language.

But I am having issues with two of those reports in which even on successfully translating the variables and exporting the same to the server the translation is not available. On opening the WEBI report again in TMT it shows that none of the variables were translated and this problem is only with the variables not with query names or prompts.

 

Any kind of help would be great.

Universe locked in Version management until servers restart

Hello,

we are experiencing strange issues in Version management when there is need for adding new content - especially universe into version management system via "add to VMS" button. The trouble is it throws an error "Universe is locked", but it is not. This error is thrown for ALL universes from time to time and the only thing which helps is restarting BO servers which is not exactly best solution.

Is there any option how to resolve it without restarting?

I heard that login event ID is 1014 but i am unable to find is this different for crystal reports and webi, i am using only crystal reports in my project

where can i find it in my Audit DB

I'm using Visual Studio 2010. Mean - .NET 4.0. There's a requirement need to communicate with SAP 4.7. What is the solution? I heard about SAP .NET Connector. Can you guys elaborate? What's the best version for Visual Studio 2010?
